La Cave à Fromage is 100% a must
visit for any cheese lover. I am truly a cheese addict so when they invited us to attend their British vs French wine and cheese tasting
evening, I was absolutely delighted!
This wonderful place primarily
offers French and British cheeses throughout their shops and online. Their first
shop opened up in November 2007 after around 7 years of being suppliers to the top
UK restaurants – thank the lord they opened their doors to the public. As well
as their original store in South Kensington they have opened stores in Notting
Hill, London and Hove, Brighton. Each store holds regular monthly tasting
events to give people the opportunity to get a further understanding of
different cheeses and to taste different types that they may not have had
before. La Cave à Fromage also offer table service during lunch and dinner time
(dependent on if there is an event on).
Our evening was hosted by the
charming Melinda and Fred. They took us through each of the cheeses and wines
so effortlessly whilst sharing lots of interesting information – keeping
everyone engaged and entertained. It was clear to see how passionate they both
were and so friendly; they really made the evening enjoyable. The slates were
presented with the French cheeses along the top and the British cheeses along
the bottom, served with some fresh bread and charcuterie board; delicious!!
For those readers who are interested
to know, these are the following cheeses and wines we tasted. The wines that
were paired followed the traditional rule of the strength of the cheese was
reflected in the body of the wine.

I loved every cheese that we tried – which was no surprise to
me. On the tasting evening there is around 8-10 people in attendance. We were
seated next to a lovely couple called Sandra and Roy who made our evening even
more enjoyable. It is really nice way to meet other like-minded cheese lovers,
to try new cheeses and a great way to spend an evening. La Cave à Fromage is an
ideal venue to go on date night, to go with your girls, or to take your parents
too. See below for their upcoming events and be sure to check out their website here. Each event starts at 7:15pm and
cost £35 unless state d otherwise and we both felt this is a great value for money. Finally, you can book by calling up the desired shop.
A huge thank you again to La
Cave à Fromage for such a perfect evening, we will certainly be back in the
near future.
Lots of Love,
N x
