    Bens Canteen, Battersea

    Hi Guys,

Before Martha and I headed to the ballet on Saturday, we went to have brunch at the amazing Ben’s Canteen in Battersea.

Ben’s is a ten minute walk away from Clapham Junction and was full with locals (always a great sign). Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely staff and taken to our table. To start we had one of their famous ‘Banging Bloody Mary’s’ and an ‘Aussie Iced Coffee’ which Martha soon fell in love with. If you’re up for it, they do have a dirty version of the iced coffee, where they add rum and Martha is definitely tempted to get this next time we visit. The interior of Ben’s Canteen is vibrant, quirky and they have created a really relaxing environment – perfect for enjoying a weekend brunch with your friends.

Onto the food, oh my God! It was delicious. From their Aussie inspired menu, we tried some of their trademark dishes; smashed avocado with poached egg and vine tomatoes on Brixton sourdough toast, topped with feta; French toast with poached pear and vanilla mascarpone and banana pancakes with salted caramel sauce, yoghurt and maple syrup and a side of their homemade hash browns. They got each and every dish absolutely right. I know for next time when I visit I’m going to have a tough decision as there are so many great options on the menu.

Due to this being a neighbourhood hangout, over the weekend it tends to get pretty busy with up to a 45-minute wait time for a table. You can also head to Ben’s Canteen for dinner every night from 5PM. Since visiting, I have not stopped raving about it to my friends! On their website Ben says “My aim was to create an alternative to the pub. I absolutely love going to the pub, especially for an all dayer or a boozy Sunday lunch, however, sometimes you just want that same relaxed spirit but not in a pub. Where to go in SW London? I was never sure.” And he sure has created exactly that! With another Ben’s Canteen open in Earlsfield, there really is no excuse not to pay them a visit.

    Check out their website here.

Have you visited Ben's Canteen before? What did you think?

    Lots of Love,
    N x
