    Martha's Top 10 Workout Songs

Now that it's summer, all the hard work that I put in over the winter months has come to fruition! However, no rest for the wicked, and the gym still beckons. Although, the sun is making me take more of my workouts outside, and I am now that weird looking person doing a few squats and lunges on the park path - ah well.
But to me, if my workout doesn't have a soundtrack, and I can't imagine I'm in a movie montage, then a workout just doesn't flow.
Here are my top ten workout tracks:

    1. Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark
This is my ultimate work out anthem. I'm a little in love with The Boss, and lets not lie, in my head I regularly replace Courtney Cox in that video with myself. This song just makes me happy, and that puts me in the mood for a good workout!

    2. Betty Who - Somebody Loves You
Pure cheese! I refuse to feel any guilt about my love for this sickly pop tune; it's fun, it's up tempo and you have to be cold-hearted not to smile at the lyrics. It's motivational, because OOO SOMEBODY LOVE YOU!

    3. The Neighbourhood - Sweater Weather
I appreciate it's not exactly an up-beat, happy-go-lucky song, but am I the only one who loves a bit of drama when I'm on the weight machines? It makes things feel cinematic. Plus this guys voice is smooth like velvet...

    4. Kings of Convenience - I'd Rather Dance With You
Incredibly bias about this song, as it's one of my favourite songs of all time. No it has no political comment, or really any grit to it, but it's fun and sweet and has a good steady tempo so it's great for cardio days.

    5. Hole - Celebrity Skin
It's an angry song, in my opinion, and that makes it perfect for leg days when you're really pushing yourself. There's something about those rough american vocals that demand a little bit of aggression...

    6. Ty Dolla $ign - Or Nah ft. The Weeknd, Wiz Khalifa & DJ Mustard
Maybe it's just me (if it is just me then the rest of the world is insane) but something about this track makes me feel sexy. And, when I'm in the gym, with sweat dripping down my puffy red face, I know there's nothing sexy about me. So it's good to get that little boost.

    7. Beyonce - Flawless
It states at the top of this post; you should workout because you love your body, not because you hate it. Same logic for eating well and same logic for indulging sometimes too. This song, in the gym, reminds me I'm working toward something I want, not something I need. Because I am flawless the way I am!

    8. Childish Gambino - Heartbeat
I fancy Donald Glover because he's beautiful, and I work out to this song because I like to pretend one day he will love me. Also, it's got a good beat to help keep a rhythm.

    9. Joy Division - Transmission
The build-up within this tune is incredible, it gets you so hyped and in the right mind-state to utterly smash whatever barrier is coming your way. Those next twenty leg raises? Make it fifty. BRING IT!

    10. Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
    ...you've seen Rocky right?

So what's your favourite work out tunes? Agree with my list or want to make some changes? Let me know ...M x
